Nigerian Breakfast Smoothie Bowl
The Nigerian Breakfast Smoothie Bowl takes the global smoothie bowl concept and fills it entirely with Nigerian tropical fruits and indigenous superfood toppings — creating a breakfast that is visually spectacular, nutritionally exceptional and firmly rooted in Nigerian ingredient traditions. The base smoothie uses mango, banana and coconut milk.

- Easydifficulty
Ingredients
- 2 big very ripe mangoes, flesh only
- 1 big ripe banana
- 1 big tin of coconut milk — use only the thick cream from the top
- 1 glass of cold water FOR THE NIGERIAN TOPPINGS:
- A big handful of tiger nuts (ofio), soaked overnight
- A big handful of fresh pineapple chunks, diced small
- A handful of sliced fresh banana
- A spoonful of sesame seeds, lightly toasted
- 1 teaspoon of moringa powder — sprinkled over the surface
- A drizzle of honey
- A small handful of desiccated coconut
- Fresh mint for garnish
Method
- 01
Making the Thick Smoothie Base. Place mango flesh, banana, thick coconut cream and cold water in a blender. Blend until completely smooth and very thick — thicker than a drinking smoothie. The base should hold the toppings without them sinking. Add less water if needed to achieve maximum thickness.
- 02
Pouring the Base. Pour the thick smoothie base into wide, shallow bowls — approximately 2 fingers deep.
- 03
Arranging the Toppings. Working quickly and artfully, arrange the toppings on the smoothie surface in sections: tiger nuts in one section, diced pineapple in another, banana slices in another, sesame seeds scattered across. Sprinkle moringa powder across one section. Scatter desiccated coconut. Drizzle honey over the entire bowl. Add fresh mint leaves as the final touch.
- 04
Serving Immediately. Serve immediately — the bowl must be eaten before the toppings begin to sink into the smoothie base.
